Each year as the Christmas holidays approach, students inquire as to some of my favorite things to collect in anticipation of purchasing a teacher gift. Several students have already made this inquiry recently. I’d like to thank them for their giving spirit as well as you, the parents, for your thoughtfulness and support!
Though I am always touched by the gifts of the heart, it seems that the students are more in need of some classroom items than I am of personal items. For those who would like to make classroom donations, I have included a wish list at the bottom of this letter. Items on this list are not meant to be considered gifts for the teacher. They are meant to be gifts for all of the children in the classroom. I would like my entire class to be enriched by your act of kindness! Please do not feel obligated in any way to purchase these items. It's simply a classroom wish list. These items would greatly benefit the students in the subject areas of reading, writing, and social studies. My hopes are to make the classroom more inviting and comfortable for the students. It is after all, a home away from home. Thank you for helping me help my students!
Most sincerely,
Happy Holidays!

Teacher Christmas Wish List
1. pencils - Endangered species in the junior high.
2. Kleenex - Cold season is here!
3. Lysol Wipes - The tables are covered with germs and need to be wiped down regularly.
4. gum - Used as a reward for searching for information and answers to class generated questions during discussions. "Google Gum"
5. informational books - We are always in need of new reading material. The majority of my classroom library has been purchased with out of pocket funds and grants I have written so that your children have current things to read that are appropriate for their reading levels. Unfortunately these grow legs and are frequently damaged. We are in need of informational books for second semester ranging from 3rd-9th grade levels. Biographies, How To, and books on the topics of the Great Depression, Civil Rights, Immigration, Mexico, Canada, and South America are greatly needed.
6. pretzel rods, Gold Fish and microwave popcorn - Junior high students do not always eat before coming to school and some have families who are struggling to provide food in general. My personal stash is gone, so I would appreciate any donations. Food allergies are always a concern, so I need to control what foods enter my room. The items mentioned above are acceptable.
Thank you for reading and Happy Holidays!
