Happy New Year!
I want to take a moment to thank everyone for all of the generous gifts and donations to the classroom. I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness. I sent home personal thank you notes but after doing locker clean outs on the last day of school last year, I realized that many of my notes never make it home. Please know that there was an attempt made to express my gratitude, but it may be hiding out somewhere in the lockers.
Tech. Updates
The entire week before break the junior high,as well as other parts of the district, were experiencing issues with the internet. This posed a number of problems. We are still having issues. Please have patience as we resolve our technical difficulties and begin the 1:1 roll out this week. Our team should be receiving our Chromebooks on Thursday or Friday, weather permitting. We will continue emphasizing digital citizenship topics and remind students of the impact poor choices made on the web can make on not only their present situation but their future.
Social Studies
Scores from Ch. 7 The United States were posted on HAC over break. We will begin Ch. 8 Canada this week. Students will be expected to identify all of the provinces and territories as part of their final test.

Reading/Writing (Vogel only)
Where the Red Fern Grows is our next novel and will be used as a source to write an agumentative literary essay. Students will be expected to make a claim as to what they think the theme is in the book and find evidence to support their stance. Vocabulary and journal entries will be a part of this unit as well.
*30 minutes of AR reading is to be completed every night to assist with goal completion. Students are also encouraged to read whenever their work is done in class.
