What Is Going On With My Child?
Being 11 years old can be rough, and the transition from elementary to middle school/junior high can be overwhelming. As your child's teacher, and a mother of two teens myself, I can empathize with you and the experiences you will be having during these next years. I have attached a couple of links below to help you understand the puzzling behavior you might be noticing. An extreme response to small stressors is one of them. Tears and frustration are not uncommon with children of this age and come at the most surprising of times.
As we move through the year, please know that I am aware of the things that cause children of this age to "melt down". That doesn't mean I can always prevent them, but I try my best to help them manage the difficulties they may encounter.
As I tell the kids, " A brain that is stressed doesn't retain new learning". My main goal is for them to be a successful learner. Please help me support your child by keeping me abreast of any issues he or she may be fretting over at home. Chances are I can remedy the situation.
