Reminders:
Chapter 1 Test - A Geographer's World was an open book/note test. The test was read aloud and choices were narrowed to two instead of four for all students. All quizzes were open book/note as well to allow students an opportunity to see how these assessments are formatted, the length, and difficulty level. Those students needing additional time were permitted to finish the test during homeroom. A copy of the Chapter 1 Test can be found under the S.S. 1st Quarter tab of my webpage or you can click on the highlighted link. Paper copies of tests will not be consumable in an effort to conserve paper. Copies of all tests can be found on the webpage after all students have finished retakes.
A review of the test is done as a class once all retakes are complete to discuss possible errors in scores and determine which pieces of information were not learned.
Students who earn below a 25 out of 35 pt. score are eligible for a retake on Monday, October 7th or Tuesday, October 8th. Please check HAC for scores. A parent note or e-mail is required stating that the student has studied more or differently in order to increase the likelihood that more learning has occurred. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
AR Goals have been reset. Please ask your child what his or her new goal is. Being that we got a late start, I have lowered the point totals. We also spent some time in class talking about how to set daily page goals and planning out AR testing dates so that they are keeping up with their reading rates. Students are required to read 30 min. at school and 30 min. at home each day.
