Moby Max - Each week on Monday, one or two language core curriculum items are assigned on Moby Max. These are due on Friday. Students watch a short video tutorial on the topic and then proceed at their own pace to complete a series of multiple choice exercises. Small group and individual mini-lessons are provided for anyone who is struggling. The lowest score is always thrown out to accommodate for the learning curve. Anyone who fails a core is provided with additional support and a hard copy of some samples to complete after meeting with me for a quick reteaching. Scores are revised to show new learning.
Vocab (Prefixes) - 6th grade students are required to learn approximately 20 prefixes and suffixes that will be built upon in 7th and 8th grade. The lists are housed on the Junior High FYI Weebly under the Reading/Vocab tab. Words are introduced at the beginning of the week. Students are provided 5-10 min. each day to study on Quizlet in class and strongly encouraged to do so at home as well. A variety of games are used to review in class before the test. Assessments are given via Edmodo and are multiple choice, true/false, matching and fill in the blank format. Retakes are offered if a parent notification is received stating what was done to learn the material before the second attempt.
Writing - Three major essays will be done this year: a personal narrative, an opinion essay and a letter of complaint. A formal writing style will be taught and expected. This means no text talk, acronyms, lower case i for a name I call myself, or fragments. Please support my efforts by asking your child to adhere to these guidelines (plus a few more) and pay attention to their writing conventions.

ry - Our library trip went well today. The kids now know how to access materials and resources our local library has to offer. Everyone who submitted a library card registration by Wednesday has a card for future use. Enjoy!
