Whew! Those of us on the second floor are grateful to be done with those 95 degree days! We did manage to forge ahead in Social Studies with an introduction to our atlas and basic map skills. We will begin Chapter 1, A Geographer's World, in our textbook Monday. In this unit the students will learn about the 5 Themes of Geography. Check out the following YouTube video I will be using to assist with the learning of the basic themes.
STAR and Rigby testing are finished and all of my students should have brought home a neon green paper with their point goal, reading zone, and the required genres for the first quarter (graphic novel, classic, realistic fiction, fantasy, and a mystery). Below is a copy of the document in the event your child needs another. Please encourage your child to read 30 minutes every night- 60 minutes if they have no other homework. Have them focus on the required genres first and then they can read whatever fiction they like. Second semester our focus will be nonfiction.
